Hi!
Today on the Talkathon, we're talking about ninemillion.org. I had a hard time understanding this organization at first, but the more I learned, the cooler it sounded.
Ninemillion.org is a UN refugee agency campaign dedicated to helping the more than nine million children on this planet who are refugees. Now, let's analyze that word "refugee." It means that there are nine million kids on this planet who have been driven from their homes by war, violence, famine, or other disasters. Many are orphaned.
What does ninemillion.org do? Gives these kids opportunities for education, sports, and technology. In the middle of the most extremely-not-healthy circumstances, they try to lend a bit of healthy, positive childhood. It can mean the difference between a kid who learns to dream and achieve, and one who can't imagine either.
Today I’m doing a video interview with Alhaji Jeffery Kamara, aka Black Nature, a member of the music group Sierra Leone‘s Refugee Allstars. As a child he experienced life in a refugee camp firsthand. He's what the organization's all about.
