Sitting down.
I've done a lot of concentrated sitting these past few days, and I'd like to tell you about what I've learned. About sitting.
* Cotton. Cotton is breathable. Cotton is cuddly. Cotton wicks moisture. A bad thing about cotton is that it is staintastic. Don't eat sloppy joes while wearing a cotton garment you plan to be wearing for an extended period of time. I can tell you that from experience.
*Lumbar support. Essential. In choosing your chair, sometimes the temptation is to go for some overstuffed grandpa chair. Unless you're whittling or sitting by a roaring fire, the big overstuffed chair is a sucker's bet. It'll screw up your lower back and you'll be miserable. Serious sitting needs to be pleasant and healthy.
*Casters. Casters are good, but I can't and don't recommend using the wheels on the bottom of your chair as your primary mode of transport. At best it's lazy, and if you overdo it, you might end up chin down on the a/c duct. And how are you going to get yourself up then? If you need to go freshen up or get something to eat, just walk.
*Drink holders - yea or nay? I'm coming down pretty hard on the nay side on this one. It's a chair, not a lifestyle.
* Stretch. Just poke your toes out straight and hold for a few minutes. It's a great way to keep the circulation going. When I do it, I visualize myself as a cheetah. It's just sort of fun.
